History of Cane 3

The Cane and the Hebrews, a sign of royal power

Among the oldest documents, the Bible mentions “Aaron’s stick”, and in the Genesis reference is made to Jacob’s stick. But the most famous one is Moses’ stick, the rallying sign of his people, the symbol of freedom, from the Egyptian yoke, a precious help during the exodus of the Hebrews, a “magic baton” which ensured their survival.

Moses was the political leader of his people and Aaron was the religious leader. Both had a stick, one as the symbol of royal power, the other as the emblem of sacerdotal leadership.
